New York City plans to close 25 migrant shelters, including the controversial Floyd Bennett Field, citing a sharp drop in new arrivals. This announcement comes as a Siena College poll shows most New Yorkers believe the migrant crisis has worsened and support deporting migrants living illegally in the state. While advocates highlight safety concerns for migrants at large shelters, city officials are moving forward with relocations, aiming to close Floyd Bennett Field by mid-January.
