Case Type: Railroad Crossing Accident: Krontz v. Norfolk Southern: left side, driver view
Description: A car traveling in an unfamiliar area was struck by a Norfolk Southern train. The plaintiff argued the driver's view was impaired by residential vegetation near the road making the crossing dangerous. However, there were no crossing arms present to warn the driver a train was coming.
Phase 1, Pre-Visualization, Measurement and Discovery:
Fearless Eye traveled to the site of the accident, took photos, measurements and video footage. The video footage was then digitized and Match Moved using photogrammetry and train and vehicle models were placed within the video.
Phase 2, Visualizations Produced:
Once 3D models of the train and vehicle were placed into the footage, it was clear that the driver's view of the tracks was impaired by bushes and trees.
