Welcome back to MeganMeSmile! We're here with another recap and some thoughts on the most recent episode of:
❄️ The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City: Season 6, Episode 4, "Petty Little Liars" ❄️
⚠️ Trigger Warning: This video may be hard to watch for anyone dealing/dealt with complicated parent relationships, religious trauma, or memories tied to teen pregnancy.
This week’s RHOSLC episode was a tough one, and I mean that emotionally and spiritually.
We start by wrapping up Lisa’s Clarity Lunch, a scene so chaotic it deserves its own franchise tbh. Angie accuses Lisa of deflecting, Heather needs to be heard, and Bronwyn surprisingly holds her own after weeks of tension. (And we can't forget Angie's infamous “You do french fries, I do franchise” line of the season, but let's not overdo it.)
Over at Meredith’s boutique, she and Seth dream up a caviar café (baby are we doing too much too fast?), while Heather and Mary have a brunch that turns into a flashback to smelling, and now tasting, like hospital.
I honestly feel like Whitney and Justin’s pole-dancing scene could’ve been a full-on marketing pivot for Wild Rose Beauty, And Bronywn and Lisa's conversation at the Vida Premiere Lounge was...fascinating to watch, but ultimately this episode is about saying we're moving on...then not moving on.
Mary’s church scene is emotional, which is not surprising. We get some backstory on her family's dynamics, how Robert Jr. is doing, and what the next steps for the church look like. And thank goodness for Mary's comedic timing when she whips out an LV mask that she uses as a Kleenex! That got the smile award this week.
At Angie’s salon, chaos returns with Lisa's assistant picking up the Fresh Wolf products, sending Angie a Venmo, and some back and forth texting jabs before Heather tells them that they're never going to get anywhere acting this way.
Whitney and Britani’s plant shopping scene gives us one of the most gut-wrenching moments of the episode (we'll get to you next, Muzzy). Their conversation about motherhood and priorities cuts deep, especially when Whitney asks if Brit can just pause the dating drama to focus on her daughter...and to put the cactus down. Real.
Then...the dark moment I was afraid to tune into - we have the Muzzy and Bronwyn's mother-daughter conversation which is easily one of the rawest, most painful scenes this franchise has ever shown. They unpack the shame Muzzy inflicted on Bronwyn during her teen pregnancy and how no matter what, Bronwyn will never feel good enough. This emotional neglect and Muzzy's judgement really hit home for me and I have been thinking about this scene ever since. I hope Muzzy watched this scene and reflected, especially living under this same daughter's roof, but I won't hold my breath.
Finally, Meredith and Angie meet for coffee, where Angie claims that Lisa once encouraged Angie to look into Meredith’s family’s background and try to dig up dirt. Meredith’s face says it all...and it's giving "I'll get to the bottom of this...fast," and I honestly think there's a 50/50 change it's true or not.
✨ Smile Award: The LV Mask Mary used as a tissue in the church
📺 Episode Rating: 7/10, some filler scenes, sad ones about their moments, and some drawn out moments, but overall - not bad at all!
