In this video we'll write the correct formula for Sucrose (also known as table sugar). Writing the formula for Sucrose based off the name is challenging. For this reason is best to memorize that Sucrose has a molecular formula of C12H22O11.
Based on the molecular formula it is not possible to determine the arrangement of atoms in the Sucrose molecular. For that we need to write the structural formula. The structural formula for sucrose shows us how the atoms are bonded and an idea of the 3-D structure.
To really visualize the 3-D structure of sucrose we need to look at a molecular model of the molecule.
