Winter hits hard again at my remote 70-year-old log cabin with the second big 3-day blizzard of the season on the way!
I start by shoveling heavy snow off the cabin roof to prevent any structural issues from the accumulating load. Then, I craft new traditional leather bindings for my snowshoes—fixing them up properly for reliable use in deep snow.
Once ready, I snowshoe out into the fresh powder to harvest some birch bark (an excellent natural firestarter) and gather cedar branches for brewing a hot, vitamin-rich cedar tea back at the cabin.
Pure bushcraft and off-grid winter living—preparing, repairing, and foraging to stay self-reliant in the wilderness. If you're into log cabin life, winter survival skills, or traditional crafts, drop a like and subscribe for more from the old cabin project!
