💓20 Invention of Photography
Nowadays we take photographs daily with digital cameras and cell phones. We share them over the internet, with cell phones, and by printing them out. Today it is easy to take great photographs. Just point the camera and push the button. Click! But was photography always so easy?

Hundreds of inventions and improvements have helped photography to be what it is today. Let’s take a look at some of these milestones in the history of photography.

1825 ~ The first photograph was taken by Joseph Niepce. It was difficult to make. It took eight hours to take the photograph. The film was made of metal and the photograph faded very quickly.

1850’s ~ A new type of film was invented. It only took three seconds to take the photograph. Family portraits became very popular. You had to go to a special photography studio.

1900 ~ The first personal cameras were manufactured. They only took black and white photographs. The film had to be taken to a special place to be printed.

1940’s ~ The first color film became available. Cameras then became quite popular, and many families owned one.

1985 ~ The first auto-focus camera was invented. You could now just point the camera and push a button to take a photograph.

1994 ~ The first personal digital cameras were manufactured. They did not use a film. The photographs were displayed on computers. People could print the photographs at home. The digital camera has become cheaper and smaller with much higher quality photographs since being invented.

Now we can see how photography has improved over time. What will happen next with photography? Will we soon have 3D photographs? Or photographs with smells and sounds? What do you think?
