The South West Coast Path from Plymouth to Exmouth traverses Devon's striking southern coastline. Leaving Plymouth's historic waterfront, the trail passes the sheltered waters of Wembury Bay before reaching the charming twin villages of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo nestled along the Yealm Estuary. The path winds through the unspoiled Erme and Avon estuaries, where walkers must time their journey with the tides. Beyond lies Bigbury-on-Sea with its iconic Burgh Island, accessible by sea tractor at high tide. The trail continues through Salcombe's sailing paradise and the golden beaches of Hope Cove before reaching Dartmouth's colorful harbor and naval heritage. After crossing the River Dart, walkers encounter Brixham's fishing fleet, the Victorian elegance of Torquay, and Babbacombe's dramatic red cliffs before finally reaching Exmouth's sandy beaches at the western gateway to the Jurassic Coast.
