Working on Pine Cone.
I'm always excited about my work, but scaling up my Pine Cone has felt like something special.
After casting the Pine Cone in two halves, the pieces are reunited to create a single form. The spirals are unforgiving - any blemish or interuption in their course will be seen, and so great skill and care is required as the metal work must replicate the original.
I often wonder which of my works will define my career when all is said and done: As this piece nears completion, I feel certain that it will be one of those.
