Mean Reversion is the kind of strategy that many hedge funds like to use - if you have a mean - any excursion away from the mean - traders are looking to short stocks that have been moving too high away from the mean and buy stocks that have overshooted on the downside. Whichever benchmark for the mean which could be VWAP or a moving average.
If you're swing trading one idea is to short the highest 3-day percentage gainers - you don't want to do it with every stock but you could do it with a basket of stocks.
Another idea if you're swing trading is go long on the highest 3-day losers.
If you're day trading one idea is to short stocks that are up more 1.5 times their ATR.
Conversely, you can go long on any stock that is down more than 1.5 times its ATR.

Other ideas if you're day trading or swing trading is to make use of a moving average; for intraday trading you can use a VWAP.
