This is an area that we are rapidly learning more about as we get a better grasp on neurodiversity and the spectrum of human behavior as well as medical considerations.

For SLPs, many of us might be stumped or even conflicted on what our roles should be. As an SLP and mother to a child with autism and other complex medical diagnoses that require a VAST amount of therapeutic support, I’m honored to share my perspective on this very topic.
