Colchester Triumph2000 Oil Change

Описание: In this video, I change the oils used in my Colchester Triumph 2000 Lathe (Clausing 15"). I've used it only lightly since I got it in 2011, however while I've maintained the oil levels, I've been meaning to change the oils out completely and start a fresh. Since I've never done this, I thought I'd share it on Youtube so that others can see what I've done, let people comment on best practises and oil types. There are more modern oil replacements available however I opted to just use the updated oils (mentioned in the Colchester manual) as recommended by Shell. The originally specified oil Tellus 27 is replaced with Tellus S2 M 32 while the Tonna 33 type is replaced with Tonna S3 M 68

Use care when handling oils, electricity and unknown machinery. Disconnect power when opening covers, have some sort of safety plan at hand in case of fire, spillage or personal injury. The oils are safe to handle but Shell does recommend good hygiene practices if contact with the skin does occur. In this video I do use unprotected hands at times to close bungs etc as I didn't have good flexible gloves that were chemically safe to use. In hindsight I should have prepared some earlier. Having a place to store the used oil is essential as well. Be warned there will be quite a lot of oil so be prepared to have room for about 4 Gallons of it! Don't just dump the oil in your backyard somewhere. Dispose of it wisely by returning it to a depot or using it for other purposes. I'm planning on using some of it in my shop as general cutting oil. I can take up to 10 litres of oil to my local council for waste recovery as long as I put it into a safe container and label it.
