Описание: When an asymmetric epoxide reacted under basic conditions, ring-opening occurs by an SN2 mechanism, and the less substituted carbon is the site of nucleophilic attack . Conversely, in acidic conditions ring-opening proceeds via SN1 mechanism and the more substituted carbon is the site of attack .

Ammonia and amines react with epoxides with the same stereospecificity as anionic nucleophiles. Draw a sawhorse or Newman projection formula for the product of the reaction shown, clearly showing the stereochemistry at both chirality centers.
