Exploring an Abandoned WWII Coastal Fort in Norway

Описание: On a cold Sunday walk, I head out to explore Bø kystfort, a World War II coastal fort located on the exposed coastline of Randaberg, Norway.

Bø coastal fort was built by the German forces during World War II as part of Festung Norwegen, the extensive coastal defense system meant to protect the Norwegian coastline from an Allied invasion. The fort was armed with four coastal artillery cannons (commonly cited as 10.5 cm guns) and was typically manned by around 120–150 soldiers. From this position, the fort had a clear view over the surrounding sea and shipping lanes, making it a strategically important location.

The weather on this walk really reminded me how exposed this coastline is. It was a cold winter day, –5 °C (23 °F), with clear skies and low winter light — perfect conditions for photography, but definitely chilly.

I brought my Canon R6 Mark II with the EF 17–40mm f/4L lens to take photos of the bunkers and the surrounding landscape. Most of the video was filmed using my DJI Osmo Pocket 3, while a few sequences were captured with the Canon R6 Mark II. The final part of the video was filmed with the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro.

This is a quiet and reflective walk, combining history, photography, and a simple winter hike along the coast.
