Of Crumbs and Courage

By candle, moon, and clinking wine,

Of crumbs, of chaos, clever feet.
Two souls who crossed the darkened way,
And somehow made the night......obey.

Through wolf-bit fields and fearful nights,
Through talking beasts and barroom fights,
They stood their ground, though odds were grim,
With sugar dust and stubborn vim.

Ah-ha! Kuchen bold and Plätzchen bright,
Dancing through the dread and fright!
When monsters loom and plans go wrong,
They answer fate with laughs and song!

“I am not hero, ja, is true,
But some-vun must know vut to do.
If danger comes, it's life I take,
Und somehow still zah plans… not break.”

Kuchen spoke with charm and grace,
Seduction worn upon her face,
Poor Halwin here once lost his breath,
Romance danced close enough to death.

Purely academic admiration, of course.

And Plätzchen, small with noble air,
Parlays with capybara without a care,
Discussing class and ancient right,
With rodents deep into the night.
Aristocrats in fur and furrow,
Saving the world by dawn tomorrow.

“I am uv lineage most refined,
Ist not mine fault joo are behind.
Ze capybaron listen, ja, zey must,
Vee speak uv manners, law, und trust.”

Kuchen bold and Plätzchen bright,
Sweet and sharp as moonlit bite!
In carnivals and cursed old halls,
They stand up tall throughout it all!

Now purely hypothetically, mind you,
In some imagined, scandalous view,
There once was a night in curtained gloom
Where three hearts shared a single room.
The wine was warm, the candles low,
And someone’s hand brushed someone’s toe.

A laugh, a sigh, a whispered dare,
A tumble of curls and sugared hair,
And though I swear I slept just fine,
My body woke up far past nine.

This verse is… apocryphal.

“Ist only leetle cuddle, ja?
Joo make so big za drama, ha.
Vee share ze bed, vee share ze night,
Joo snores, vee giggle, all ist right.”

“This bard exaggerates, of course.
His pride is always off its horse.
They simply kept him safe from fear.”

The night may hiss, the fangs may gleam,
The world may twist like fever dream,
But laughter cuts where blades cannot,
And sugar softens darkest plot.

Oh Kuchen bold and Plätzchen bright,
Stars of mischief, crumbs, and might!
If darkness comes to stake its claim,
They’ll talk it down… or bake it tame.

So raise a glass, or raise a crumb,
To heroes odd when sisters come,
But if tonight, you hear bats sing?
Relax. It's fine.
