The Artificial Island

Описание: The construction of an artificial island off the coast of Gaza will provide the residents of the strip a humanitarian and economic outlet to the world without endangering the security of Israel.
The intention is to build an island 3 miles from the coast, which will be connected to the Gaza strip by a bridge and provide the strip with civilian services, including electricity and water desalination, as well as port services, subject to Israel's control of the security in the sea and in the port.
Israel will accompany the project and the international community, states in the region, as well as the Palestinians will be able to take part in it.
At the same time, the island, which be internationally owned, will not change Israel's legal marine status and existing agreements.
The construction of the island is expected to take 5 years, but the project will provide the Gazans employment and hope from the start.
Beyond its humanitarian and economic importance and its distinct security advantages, the artificial island initiative will strengthen the cooperation and the relations between Israel and the countries in the regional and international arena which will take part in the project.
Furthermore, although its aims focus on humanitarian and economic aspects, the construction of an artificial island, and especially the outlet to the world which it will provide for the Gazans, could also set in motion in the long run deep positive internal processes in the Strip and contribute to long term calm.
