🔧 What is an Overpick Mechanism?

In an overpick loom, the picking stick (which throws the shuttle) is mounted above the shuttle race. It strikes the shuttle from above to propel it across the shed (the opening between raised and lowered warp yarns).

🏗️ Working Principle of Overpick Loom:

1. Shedding: Warp threads are separated by the heald shafts to form a shed.


2. Picking: The shuttle is thrown across the shed from one box to the other by the overpick stick using energy from a cam or crank mechanism.


3. Beating-Up: The reed pushes the newly inserted weft yarn into place.


4. Take-Up and Let-Off: The woven fabric is wound onto the cloth roller, and warp yarns are released from the warp beam.
