The MLC elections in Bihar are becoming quite interesting. Both the BJP and the JD(U) have released their lists of four candidates each. Notably, the name of Deepak Prakash—son of former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha—is missing from both lists. Deepak Prakash has held ministerial positions in both the Nitish government and the Samrat government without being an MLA or MLC; consequently, his ministerial seat now appears to be in jeopardy. The BJP has fielded Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh, Sanjay Mayukh, Anil Kumar Thakur, and Shila Pandit, while the JD(U) has fielded Nishant Kumar (Nitish's son), Bharti Mehta, Shiv Rani Devi Prajapati, and Lalan Prasad.
