If you’re thinking about buying a condo on the Alabama Gulf Coast, you’ve probably realized something really fast — there are a lot of them. Like, hundreds. So today I’m cutting through the noise and sharing the five condos I send my out-of-state buyers to first, whether you’re looking for a full-time home, a second place, or something that rents like crazy when you’re not here.
Starting at number five — The Beach Club, out on the west end toward Fort Morgan. This one’s for the buyer who wants a resort lifestyle without the Highway 59 traffic. You’ve got a full spa, restaurants on site, tennis and pickleball, multiple pools, and some of the prettiest, quietest beach in the state. Owners I’ve worked with here tell me the same thing — it feels like you’re on vacation every time you pull through the gate. Great fit if you want a big property with lots to do and you’re okay being a little removed from the restaurant scene.
Number four is Caribe, right on the Perdido Pass. Caribe is wild in the best way. We’re talking a lazy river, a swim-up bar, indoor and outdoor pools, a marina right below you, and views of the pass where you can literally wave at boats coming in from the Gulf. For families and for folks who like to entertain, this one is hard to beat. It’s also popular with owners who boat, because you can keep your slip onsite. Unit sizes and price points vary a lot, which actually makes it a good starting point no matter what your budget looks like.
Coming in at number three — Phoenix West II. Phoenix West II gets talked about a lot for a reason. It has one of the most amenity-packed pool decks on the coast — lazy river, indoor pool, outdoor pools, big fitness center, the works. The units themselves tend to be roomy, with huge gulf-front balconies. If you’re buying because you want something that lives large when family comes to visit, this building delivers. It’s also a very strong rental performer, so if you want to offset costs when you’re not in town, that’s a real option here.
Number two takes us just over the state line to Perdido Key — Indigo. Indigo is where I send buyers who want luxury without the crowds. Two towers, low density, a really beautiful lobby, and that classic Perdido Key slower pace. You’re close to Florida restaurants and the National Seashore, but you’re also only a short drive back into Orange Beach when you want the action. A lot of my full-time residents live here because they love the quiet side of the coast.
And at number one — Turquoise Place. If you’ve researched Gulf Coast condos at all, you knew this was coming. Turquoise is the flagship luxury building in Orange Beach. Wrap-around balconies with private hot tubs and outdoor grills, huge floor plans, floor-to-ceiling glass, a beach-level water park, a spa, restaurants on site — it’s the full package. Yes, the price point is higher, but resale and rental demand have been consistently strong, and nothing else in the market feels quite like it.
