Salt River permit season was shaping up to be a bust due to lack of flow, but we managed to get a full bridge to bridge trip in despite the low flow (started at about 300cfs at the put-in and took-out at about 450cfs). This 52 mile trip took us 4 days; our longest day of paddling was about 20 miles.
The day run portion (day 1) had the lowest flow and this segment isn't as channelized as the lower 40 miles. The last 15 miles is also rather wide and less channelized, but with the bump in runoff and the few criks adding water allowed us to move faster than anticipated.
Horseshoe Bend has a major blockage at this time and requires a 300 yard portage. Beginning at the 15 min mark of this video has a few clips of what it looks like. I actually didn't record any footage of Horseshoe Bend during this trip and the clips in this video were taken a few weeks earlier.
