Meet Alexander - Equipment Operator II at Caltrans

Описание: When Alexander looks out over the mountains along the Grapevine, he sees more than just the road ahead. He sees how far he has come.

For years, Alexander experienced housing insecurity and navigated challenges related to substance use and involvement with the justice system. Despite periods of instability and short-term jobs, he never stopped searching for stability and purpose.

After moving to California for a fresh start, Alexander found himself experiencing homelessness for the first time. With determination and hope, he walked through the doors at Chrysalis and found the support he needed to build a pathway forward.

Through Chrysalis Roads, he gained valuable work experience in freeway maintenance and discovered his passion for the job. His dedication and strong work ethic earned him a leadership role, and with continued support through the SECTOR program, he earned his Class A commercial driver’s license at no cost.

Today, Alexander works full-time with Caltrans as an Equipment Operator II. He has built a fulfilling career, provides for his family, and continues to grow both personally and professionally.
