In this video, I show you how to not only replicate Pep Guardiola's 4-3-3 system for Man City, but also how to adjust it to work efficiently in FIFA 21.

Guardiola's 4-3-3 is a working alternative to the original Total Football system; in which Guardiola played under the late Johan Cruyff during his days at Barcelona. Not only does it provide the foundation to dominate possession, but also how to be inconspicuously defensive against the threat of a counter attack.

In possession, Man City place an emphasis on moving the ball vertically whilst playing through the thirds. They're able to stretch the width of the play through the positioning of the likes of Benjamin Mendy on the left and Riyad Mahrez on the right, whilst keeping the likes of the central midfielders within short passing distance.

Defensively, Manchester City look to counter-press the opposition whenever they lose the ball. What helps them have so much possession in games is often down to how they force the opposition into giving them the ball back through their press.

To prevent counter attacks, City often keep the right back, usually Kyle Walker, back in an inverted position. This also helps them to keep possession in the centre of the pitch.
