Williams soap nearly made a break for it.
In this shave, I tell the story of a Williams puck that decided it didn’t want to stay put — and how that small mishap led to a real breakthrough.
By aggressively loading the soap (“loading the everloving piss out of it”), I discovered that Williams can deliver excellent cushion, glide, and protection — even when using a blade that’s well past factory-fresh. The key wasn’t changing the razor or blade, but changing the approach: more product, face lathering, and better preparation.
This shave also touches on blade longevity, why face lathering can act like a built-in pre-shave, and how proper prep can make an older blade shave smoother than expected.
