Born January 21, 1962, also known as Bato dela Rosa or simply Bato is a retired Filipino police officer who serves as the Director General of the Director of the Bureau of Corrections from April 30, 2018 until October 12, 2018. He served as Philippine National Police Chief from July 1, 2016 to April 19, 2018. When the former Davao City police chief takes over the entire PNP at the same time that his ―mentor,‖ the longtime Davao mayor, takes on his biggest role yet as president and commander-in-chief, Dela Rosa had a daunting task. One of Duterte’s key campaign promises is to eradicate – or ―suppress‖ – crime in 3-6 months.
