The trip to Finland turned out to be an amazing adventure. I flew into Helsinki, and then journeyed to Rovaniemi on the overnight VR train. I had an upstairs cabin, with a private shower and toilet. I had always wanted to take an overnight train, and it did not disappoint.
BOOK EARLY for better deals, and get the refundable price in case your plans change.
I used Airbnb for all of my lodgings in Rovaniemi and Helsinki, but in Rovaniemi I would consider my next stay at Santa Claus Village.
There are plenty of things to see and do at Santa Claus Village. It was joyful!
I am in my 60s, but must confess, that meeting Santa Claus was a unique and wonderful experience. I felt like a kid again.
I also walked through the forest with a Reindeer - his name was "Valko." It cost to do this private tour, but it was well worth it.
I truly suggest a visit to Finland - especially Rovaniemi. Take the train!
