Maslow vs. Ecosystem Map: The Hierarchy of Human Needs Explained

Описание: Welcome to this video, where I, Julian, a professor of strategic management and Founder of Ecosystemizer, will explain the difference between the traditional Maslow Pyramid and the 10 life areas of the Ecosystem Strategy Map.

The Maslow Pyramid is an iconic tool used to understand human motivation and needs, with five distinct levels of human needs. Beginning with basic physiological needs, then safety and security, followed by love and belonging, then esteem and self-actualization. This pyramid has been an essential tool for understanding the needs of individuals.

However, the Ecosystem Strategy Map offers an alternative approach to understanding motivation and needs. It provides 10 life areas, which enable us to take a much more holistic view of our lives. These areas include Mobility, Health, Recreation, Work, Consumption, Spirituality, Socialize, Education, Entertainment and Living.

By evaluating our lives through these 10 life areas, we can gain a much better understanding of our own needs and motivations, as well as those of others, and the ecosystems we inhabit. This approach is particularly useful in a world that is becoming increasingly interconnected, as it allows us to better understand the interconnectedness of our lives and how our individual needs fit into the larger context.

In this video, I will compare and contrast the two approaches, and explain how the Ecosystem Strategy Map can provide a much more comprehensive view of our lives. I will also discuss the potential benefits of this approach, such as improved decision-making and a better understanding of our own motivations.
