This is the ultra-rare 1993 Porsche 968 Club Sport, finished in a very rare color known as ‘Speed Yellow’ (L12G). The Porsche 968 model was first introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show press day in 1991, and was originally planned to become the successor to the 944 S2, which was then called the 944 S3. After the engineers at Porsche revamped the model almost entirely, it was decided to be given a new name, the 968. While the 968 proved to be a pretty successful model, there was still demand for a faster, lighter and much, much cheaper variant, and because of this Porsche introduced the ‘Club Sport’. The Club Sport (shown here) was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 1992 and was designed by Dutch automobile designer, Harm Lagaay, who had previously designed the 924, the 944, and the standard 968. The Club Sport serves as a lightweight, track-focused variant of the 968, and much of the luxurious features found in the standard 968 are stripped out. For example, you certainly won’t find any air conditioning, power windows, and an all-new thicker-rimmed 3-spoke sports steering wheel with no airbag whatsoever. Due to a lack of safety equipment, the Club Sport variant was only ever officially offered in Europe, the UK, Japan and Australia. In total, Porsche only produced around 1,743 examples of the Club Sport, with only a small portion of those being painted in Speed Yellow like the car shown here. Other unique details on this car include OEM matching Speed Yellow wheels, lightweight bucket seats with the back of the seats mirroring the exterior in Speed Yellow, and also the Sport Pack (option code MO30), which only 99 total cars were equipped with from the factory and offered stiffer springs, anti-roll bars and much more. The Club Sport is approximately 200lbs lighter than the standard 968, and is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-four cylinder engine that produces about 237 horsepower. The 968 CS has top speed of around 160mph and 0-60mph taking just about 5.8 seconds. What do you think of this 968 CS?
