Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar has called for the prime minister to resign as the scandal around Keir Starmer’s appointment of Peter Mandelson as US ambassador escalates.

The intervention follows the resignation of the prime minister’s chief of staff and director of Communications. Speaking at a hastily organised news conference, the Scottish Labour leader said “the distraction needs to end”.
Labour’s Danny Beales MP, the Conservatives’ Luke Evans MP and Ash Sarkar from Novara Media were in studio reacting to the news alongside The Times’ Patrick Maguire.
