Open Excel: Turn on your computer and open Microsoft Excel.
Put Your Numbers Here: In each cell in a column or row, enter the numbers you wish to total. For instance, the numbers in cells B2 through B6 may be yours.
Choose the Cell for the Total: In the cell where you want the amount to show up, click. For instance, click cell B7 if you want the amount to show up there.
Employ the SUM Function: In the cell where you wish the sum to show, type "=SUM(" For instance, enter "=SUM(B2:B6)" if you wish to know the total of cells B2 through B6
Close the Parentheses: Type ")" to close the parentheses after choosing the range of cells.
Press Enter: Using your keyboard, press the Enter key. The selected numbers' sum will show up in the cell.
Open the Excel Spreadsheet: Open the spreadsheet containing the numbers you wish to sort by opening it in Microsoft Excel.
Decide on the Data Range: To sort the numbers, click on the column that contains those numbers. If the data you wish to sort is dispersed across several columns, choose all the cells in that range.
Get to the Filter and Sort Options:
Navigate to the Excel ribbon's "Home" tab.
Find the group "Editing".
Ascending order:
After choosing the data range, pick the "Editing" group and click the "Sort A to Z" button (in ascending order).
Depending on the column you choose, Excel will reorder the selected data in ascending numerical order.
Descending order:
Similarly, select the "Sort Z to A" button (descending order) in the "Editing" group to sort the data in that order.
Depending on whatever column you choose, Excel will reorder the selected data in descending numerical order.
Check and Modify:
Verify that the data has been sorted in the way you expected. You can either redo the sorting or utilize the "Undo" button if any changes are required.
