Getting to work with an electronic act was a great and exciting change of pace for us. Chuchoter’s motivation to be taken seriously presides- they are a highly engaging pair who know their stuff. This is a bounding song with stacks of goodwill. ESP reckons it’s best shared at the beginning of a night out with whoever totters through the door first.
What’s your story?
We met in high school at a charity choir, Emily asked Owen to record some of her songs. Then Owen asked Emily to write some lyrics for one of his tracks, and the band formed from there. We’ve been crafting a sound for about 5 years, and working together as Chuchoter for almost 2 years. We’ve just released our 2nd EP Pieces, and we’re getting ready to start playing some shows up north and in the north of England
How would you describe the genre?
Angry feminist pop music. Owen has influences from Jazz and Disco which make his rhythms and harmonies really interesting. Emily has influences from the likes of James Taylor, Dean Friedman, and Suzanne Vega which helped to shape her lyrical style.
What’s the ambition?
We want to make music that people enjoy and connect with and get to the stage where that music is being heard by tonnes of folk. We want to make music that empowers people, particularly women and LGTB+ people, to feel confident in themselves and like they’re not alone in the struggles they have to face.
Music aside, what do you like to do together?
We like to eat brunch. And we love going to cult coffee. But mostly we just make each other laugh constanly with stupid vine references and inside jokes
