Steps are being taken for the construction of the Nellore Outer Ring Road, which will contribute to the comprehensive development of the Nellore district. The then Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu had promised the Nellore Outer Ring Road project back in 2018. Approval was granted in the same year, and an announcement was made to construct it with a length of 42 kilometers. In the previous government, the project responsibility was entrusted to the Shapoorji Pallonji Group. On December 13, 2022, the current government handed over the project to them. Despite several discussions since then, no progress was made. Recently, after the current government came into power, a meeting was held on September 4th of last year regarding the alignment and progress. Subsequently, the first review meeting was held recently to seek appropriate suggestions and advice on the matter. Several MLAs, the NUDA chairman, municipal corporation in-charges, mayors, and others attended this meeting and expressed their opinions. Considering future needs and traffic congestion, the construction of an outer ring road has been proposed. It will be built across 9 mandals and a total of 38 villages in the Kovur, Sarvepalli, Nellore Rural, and Atmakur constituencies, covering a total distance of 83.64 kilometers. It will start near Levoor Bit 2 and end at the Rajupalem junction. The longest stretch, 41.44 kilometers, will be in the Kovur constituency, followed by 20.94 km in Sarvepalli, 19.64 kilometers in Nellore Rural, and 1.02 kilometers in Atmakur. A 1200-meter-long bridge over the Penna River has also been proposed. The estimated cost for this project is Rs. 1930 crores. Public representatives and officials believe that a decision should be made after discussing the ground realities and assessing the situation. Nevertheless, it is estimated that the construction of the outer ring road will significantly reduce traffic problems in Nellore. I am providing the details related to this project through this video
