Known as the first lady of racing, Gai Waterhouse is one of Australia’s most decorated horse trainers. The daughter of legend thoroughbred trainer TJ Smith, she began her career modelling and acting in the UK, even landing a role on the sci-fi classic, Doctor Who. She came back to Australia to train horses and has since chalked up over 120 Group One race wins, the third highest of all time, including six Golden Slippers, seven Doncaster Handicaps and the Melbourne Cup. A former Telstra Businesswoman of the Year, Waterhouse is an Australian Racing Hall-of-Famer and a living treasure.
