Systematic Desensitization

Описание: Systematic Desensitization uses exposures to reduce anxiety surrounding a stimulus (e.g. food, texture) by introducing relaxation or regulation techniques while gradually increasing engagement.

Now, there is a lot more nuance even with what I said in the video.

🤔 Like, what about anxiety versus sensory processing? These are VERY different!

REGARDLESS

➡️ It’s time to rethink a VERY commonly discussed and used strategy in feeding therapy.

Plus, we don’t even have quality research that tells us if this intervention is even effective or not!

So…

👏 We need consent.

👏 We NEED internal motivation.

👏 Connection over compliance.
