Indra Cidambi, MD,DFASAM, is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. She completed her residency in Psychiatry from Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York and her Fellowship in Addiction Medicine from NYU/Bellevue.
Dr. Cidambi not only improved addiction treatment by innovating to the Ambulatory (Outpatient) Detox model for all substances of abuse (alcohol, benzodiazepines and opiates), she also helped to increase access to addiction treatment through the utilization of this lower-cost/higher-efficacy outpatient detoxification model. She has worked with various media outlets NPR, CBS, Fox, WSJ, etc,) to reduce the stigma associated with the disease of addiction.
The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) has recognized Dr. Cidambi for her contribution in proving the outpatient detox model to be safe and effective. She was elected President of the New Jersey chapter of ASAM. In addiction Dr. Cidambi hosted a live FaceBook event every Monday during Covid pandemic that was open to the public. The Sheriffs of Monmouth County, Morris County and Atlantic County in New Jersey have been on the show along with prosecutors, recovery specialists and treatment providers. She also answered questions from the public relative to addiction and treatment. The show garners thousands of views every week.
