"Rast Taksim" is a Turkish musical piece composed by Yorgo Bacanos in Rast makam (mode).
Yorgo Bacanos (1900-1977) was a Turkish musician of Greek-Gypsy descent who was born in Silivri, a small town near Istanbul, on September 21, 1900. He was a virtuoso on the ud, a traditional Turkish stringed instrument, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest ud players of all time. Bacanos came from a family of musicians and learned to play the ud from his uncle. He began his professional career in the 1920s and quickly became known for his innovative and virtuosic playing style. He was a prolific recording artist, and his recordings continue to be highly regarded by music lovers around the world. Bacanos played a key role in modernizing the ud and making it a more prominent instrument in Turkish classical music. He traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Middle East, spreading the popularity of the instrument beyond Turkey's borders. Bacanos died on February 24, 1977, at the age of 76. His legacy continues to inspire musicians and fans of Turkish classical music to this day.
