From the flintlock muskets of the Revolution, to the bolt action rifles found at the turn of the 20th century, along with the modern gas-operated semi-automatic rifles. See how the service weapons of the US evolved from single shot smoothbore muskets, to the icons of the military world such as the M1 Garand and M16 rifles.

The definition of “service musket” / “service rifle” I am using is that of the musket / rifle issued by the US military to regular infantrymen.
