15 years ago today — March 11, 2011 — I was in Japan when the Tohoku disaster happened.
At that time, I was working in Tokyo and living in Chiba. When the earthquake struck, we were instructed not to go home because the trains had stopped running. Many of us stayed overnight at the office and slept there. I was only able to go home the next day.
This was what my room looked like when I finally arrived home. Looking back, I think I was fortunate to have been at the office when it happened.
