The heart of FlightCheck are the Ground Controls, preflight presets or profiles already there for you to get started very quickly. Many will just use those. More experienced preflight operators and prepress experts will customize the Ground Controls and save different sets for their workflows.

You can share these with other people in your workflow or other graphic design colleagues. Very handy for preflighting a page layout. (FlightCheck supports Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, QuarkXPress, and even PDF files, such as Canva PDFs or a PDF from Word or CorelDRAW).

It's very easy to preflight: Just drag and drop your files or multiple files on the FlightCheck icon. Very good. The next feature, which we cover in detail in many other videos, is the DTP document Preview. Look at that! Something that's been asked for, for years from preflighters: the ability to check a Quark file, or InDesign file, or a PDF file, or an Illustrator job, and get a preview, so you can see where the preflight problems are.

In the new FlightCheck, there are various preflight modes, two main ones, in the upper left hand corner. There, you can switch between the two Preflight Modes, Inventory and the Preflight Results mode. It is for you to decide what works best for you. I kind of use both.

The preflight Reports are very handy, to share information with other people in the workflow, but here's a new feature I really love in FlightCheck. It's actually a combination of the Preview and finding the problem and, then, navigates in the preview window to show you where the problem actually is.

But now you can actually also edit, for instance, this InDesign file and edit the problem in InDesign, but it opens the file in InDesign for you. It actually takes you right to the exact page and selects the exact location, where the problem is. Absolutely amazing!

Same thing with PDF files, we can pinpoint a problem and select "edit in Acrobat." So, now you can actually edit your PDFs and even with Enfocus PitStop right through FlightCheck. Now that is powerful and very handy!

The Package feature is one of the most popular features in FlightCheck, for years. It'll gather all of your fonts and images together and include them in a separate folder, even compressing it. It's a "FlightCheck Approved" folder (or not) and very handy for archiving, but also for delivery to the printer or publisher, wherever the next person in the workflow is.

Part of the Package feature now includes a new IDML creation option. FlightCheck comes standard now with IDMarkz. It will create an IDML file for InDesign files and, optionally, if you have one of our other Markz-Line products, like PDFMarkz or QXPMarkz, you can create an IDML from PDF files or QuarkXPress files, respectively. In Illustrator files, as well! That's how easy it is to get started, with FlightCheck.
