Eragon: The Franchise That Never Was

Описание: Eragon is a film that was pushed out as quickly as possible to cash in on the young adult fantasy craze that was dominating Hollywood at the time. In an effort to appeal to the widest audience possible the film ended up being cliche and boring as a result. Although the film made some money, it received a pretty widespread negative reaction, and it has failed to have an enduring legacy like many other classics of the era.


In this video essay I examine the history of this film, and offer some of my thoughts on why Eragon failed to live up to its potential, and launch the franchise many hoped it would.
