My original plan involved crossing Granite Bear Pass from Royce Lakes. However, upon seeing the pass (which appears at 5:04 in the video at the center) from a distance, I decided to take the longer but safer Italy Pass. I wasn't comfortable with the car-sized rocks dangling precariously in the loose terrain. I later met a group that had successfully crossed Granite Bear Pass, and they confirmed it was doable.
