Extended highlights of a London FA Sunday Junior Cup Fourth Round match between Edmonton Rovers from Division Two of the Barnet Sunday League and East London Ballers Reserves from Division Two of the Essex Sunday Corinthian League.
Match played on Sunday 18th January 2026 at Enfield Playing Fields.
This is Edmonton Rovers current group of young players 5th season in adults football in the Barnet Sunday League with more-or-less the whole squad now being 20-year-olds who will be turning 21 during the course of the season. The decision to bring them in as 16-year-olds in 2021 has been a big success so far and you can follow their journey up the divisions with us here with every match being filmed for this You Tube channel. Rovers finally managed their first win since early October last week when they beat fellow Barnet Sunday League Division Two side Sparta Finchley 4-2 in the Third Round of this competition despite having to use two of their unofficial Vets team players due to mass unavailability. In fact things are even worse for this match with 15 players making themselves unavailable and the Vets team players also unable to help out this time as their team (Whitewebbs) have a League match to play. That sees Player-Manager Josh Wakeford having to hurriedly sign up his two older cousins Thomas and James Mason for their Rovers debuts with them both travelling all the way down from Harpenden to help out, but thankfully Rovers do have defenders Fergus Murray and Tom Gubb both available for the first time since Pre-Season with Manager Wakeford deciding to play a back five again to compensate for a possible lack of teamwork back there with some players having only just met each other.
Unlike mid-table Rovers, East London Ballers Reserves are currently running away with their division in the very strong Essex Sunday Corinthian League and they will probably be one of the favourites to win this competition as a result, especially as their First Team will be the favourites to win the FA NATIONAL Sunday Cup this season if they beat current holders (and the Barnet Sunday League's top team) Highgate Albion when they meet later today at Potters Bar Town FC.
With Division Two of the Barnet Sunday League being the fourth division down of six and Division Two of the Essex Sunday Corinthian League being the third division down of eight, this match and the later FA National Sunday Cup game could give a good indication of where both Leagues stand in their claim to be the strongest in the London area.
