Venom Storage Charging Walk Through

Properly storing your batteries is absolutely vital, especially when it comes to the overall lifespan of your packs. Batteries that are stored fully charged, or discharged, will TYPICALLY exhibit a much shorter life span. These packs may be prone to premature failure, or also swelling, which is a sign of failure. I never use any battery that is swollen, as the swelling is a clear indication of the cells of the pack off gassing.

In my opinion, a storage cycle should be performed on any pack that will not be in use for more than a few days. If your charger doesn't have a storage option, and you plan to remain in the RC hobby, you should plan on investing in a charger that offers a storage function.

Storage voltage is between 3.8-3.85V per cell. It's difficult to land in that range without a charger that either shows voltage, or is set to take the batteries there on its own.

I typically keep my batteries at storage voltage at all times, when I know I'm going to use them, I will charge them the night before or the day of use. My son and I will go out and run our vehicles. When we get home, I think about when the next time we will go out will be. If I'm not sure when we will run again, or if I think it may be more than a day or so, it's at that point I will run a storage cycle on the packs. Life happens, and it's hard to plan ahead sometimes, but this method seems to serve me well.

Anytime you are using a pack, whether running a vehicle, charing, discharging, or running a storage cycle, it's vitally important to stay present with the pack. Leaving these unattended has caused a lot of heartache for a lot of people.
