Hattusa was the capital of the Hittite Empire in the late Bronze Age.
It is located around 200 kilometers from Nevshehir-Cappadocia, and the same from Ankara.
The archaeological site of Hattusa is notable for its urban organization, the types of construction that have been preserved (temples, royal residences, fortifications), the rich ornamentation of the Lions' Gate and the Royal Gate, and the ensemble of rock art at Yazilikaya.
The Hattusa Green Stone is a roughly cubic block of Nephrite, a dark green mineral form of Jade which is common in the region, and dressed into the form of a cube, about 27 inches (69 cm) per side and weighing about 2,200 pounds (1000 kg).
The Green Stone is supposed to have had some religious use or purpose standing in the remains of the Great Temple.
The local inhabitants call the stone a "wish stone". Its magical reputation and the mystery of its origins draw many tourists from Türkiye and other countries to visit it every day.
If you have visited the underground cities in Cappadocia and learned about the Hittite people and if you like to explore and discover wonders of the past, then go for a day to Hattusa and you will have an open air lesson of the ancient history.
