The Egyptian Air Force (EAF) is the aerial warfare branch of the Egyptian Armed Forces, responsible for defending Egypt’s airspace, conducting ground support, reconnaissance, and transport missions. Established in 1932, it is one of the oldest and largest air forces in the Middle East and Africa. Headquartered in Cairo, the EAF operates from numerous airbases across the country, including Cairo West, Gebel El Basur, and Beni Suef. Its fleet is one of the region’s most diverse, featuring F-16 Fighting Falcons, Dassault Rafales, MiG-29M/M2s, Mirage 2000s, and various transport aircraft and helicopters such as the C-130 Hercules and AH-64 Apache.

The Egyptian Air Force plays a vital role in national defense, counterterrorism operations (especially in the Sinai Peninsula), and regional stability. Through partnerships with the United States, France, and Russia, the EAF continues to modernize and maintain a strong, balanced, and versatile aerial capability.
