I think her main reason for going to church is to convince herself that God can take away a child's need for development so she doesn't have it hard as a Mother anymore. The only thing Chrisean had to do when she was pregnant was not drink. Now, she is left with the consequences of her actions.

She's going to learn that running from Man to Man will not make her real problems go away.
