Hey guys welcome back to another video today I will talk my opinions and problems with Artificial Difficulty and what I think about how it is done in a few games. Many people who have played Silksong claim that enemies deal way too much damage or that bosses have too many adds in them, does that mean anything? is it a skill issue? While there are many examples within these games the ones that I chose are the following: Silksong's Beastfly 2.0, Terraria's Master Mode, Elden Ring's Godskin Duo, Nightreign's Deep of Night. All of these things have some sort of Artificially Difficult Concept that could annoy players...
Okay guys I’m NOT responding to comments that misrepresent what I’ve said about Artificial Difficulty or some game.
Artificial Difficulty: When the game challenges the player with a Quantitative Difficulty as opposed to a Qualitative Difficulty, doesn’t make it inherently bad, but I do deem it lazy at best.
When there are enemies introduced into a boss fight that don’t provide their own unique challenge and are there to simply overwhelm the player I would generally consider it Artificial Difficulty. Some people like it, some people don’t, I generally do not.
