Most patients need to rest for 2 days, and can return to work on the third day.
Make sure to get a quality compression garment that is comfortable but tight. The garment is there to help reduce the swelling. It does nothing for the result.
Most swelling lasts 3 weeks and you should start to see your results around a month after lipo.
