The Bravery of Hazrat Ali (RA) in the Battle of Hunain | Ghazwa Hunain | Islamic History
The Battle of Hunain is one of the most powerful and humbling moments in Islamic history.
It was a battle where numbers failed, pride was shattered, and true faith was tested.
Just after the Conquest of Makkah, the Muslims found themselves at the peak of worldly success.
An army of 12,000 believers marched forward — the largest Muslim force ever assembled at that time.
Many thought, “Today, we cannot be defeated.”
But Allah had planned a lesson that would be remembered forever.
In the narrow Valley of Hunain, the tribes of Hawazin and Thaqeef, led by Malik bin Auf, launched a sudden and devastating ambush.
From the mountains came a rain of arrows.
Confusion spread.
Darkness, dust, fear — and suddenly, the unthinkable happened.
The Muslim army retreated.
The Quran itself mentions this moment, reminding believers that victory does not come from numbers, but from Allah alone.
At this critical moment, when chaos surrounded the battlefield, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ stood firm.
He did not retreat.
He did not turn away.
Mounted on his white mule, he declared with absolute certainty:
“I am the Prophet — this is no lie.
I am the son of Abdul Muttalib.”
Only a small group of Sahaba remained beside him — men whose faith stood firm even in the face of the greatest trials
Among them was Hazrat Ali (RA).
With sword in hand and unwavering loyalty in his heart, Hazrat Ali (RA) stood like a shield in front of the Prophet ﷺ.
Again and again, enemy warriors charged forward — and again and again, they were pushed back.
Historical narrations mention that Hazrat Ali (RA) fought with such courage that dozens of enemy fighters were defeated by his hand.
But this was not anger or arrogance — it was pure devotion.
Devotion to Allah.
Devotion to His Messenger ﷺ.
As Hazrat Abbas (RA) called out to the Ansar and the veterans of Badr, the Muslims slowly began to return.
Their hearts burned with regret.
“How could we leave the Messenger of Allah alone?”
They regrouped.
They stood firm.
And when sincerity replaced pride, Allah’s help descended.
The tide of the battle turned.
What followed was not only a military victory, but a moral triumph.
Despite gaining enormous spoils of war, the Prophet ﷺ showed unmatched mercy.
Prisoners were freed.
Former enemies were forgiven.
Hearts were won — not by the sword, but by compassion.
One of the most emotional moments came afterward, when the Ansar felt overlooked.
The Prophet ﷺ addressed them with words so touching that they brought tears to every eye:
“Others will return with camels and sheep…
but you will return with the Messenger of Allah.”
This moment alone defines the soul of Islam.
The Battle of Hunain teaches us lessons that are timeless:
Never rely on numbers or power — rely on Allah
Pride leads to downfall, humility leads to success
True leadership stands firm in crisis
Loyalty like that of Hazrat Ali (RA) is the highest form of courage
Mercy after victory is the greatest strength
This video is not just a story of war.
It is a reminder for our hearts.
A mirror for our faith.
And a lesson for every generation.
