A Warning About the World | 1 John 2:15–17 - by Simon Bradshaw
In today’s message, Pastor Simon unpacks John’s warning not to love the world or the things in it. From 1 John 2:15–17, we learn that the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life all compete against our love for the Father.
Simon explains that love for God and love for the world are mutually exclusive — we can’t serve both. The “world” here isn’t creation itself, but the system of opposition to God: temptation, pride, and self-centered living. Though the world and its desires are passing away, those who do the will of God abide forever.
Key Points:
The love of the Father leaves no room for love of the world.
Temptation comes through the flesh, the eyes, and pride in possessions.
The world’s promises fade, but obedience to God leads to eternal life.
