Inexpensive LED Flashlights (Any with adjustable brightness) can often be used as a Stroboscope to help diagnose vibration issues in a rotating mass. If the mass appears static, then the mass isn't bent or very much out of balance. If it appears to wobble, then the mass is either bent or still out of balance and you still need to remove more parts to determine where the imbalance is.
The caveat with this technique is that the LED will strobe at a fixed, usually fairly fast frequency; this means you need to adjust the RPM of the mass to sync with the strobe, where with a commercial-type strobe you would be able to adjust the frequency of the strobe to sync with the rpm of the rotating mass.
However... STILL a very useful tool, ESPECIALLY when setting blade tracking!
