How do you make an urban district more sustainable and safer? The Municipality of Utrecht starts a new pilot project, Smart Street Lighting Utrecht, in the urban district Kanaleneiland-Zuid. This project is part of the European project IRIS Smart Cities, in which different parties work together on urban districts of the future in European cities.
From June there is the smart pedestrian crossing, a unique idea from residents, which was developed and realized together with the Municipality of Utrecht. The Municipality of Utrecht is also testing 50 smart lamp posts in the district as part of pilots with sustainable lighting and measuring air quality.
